Bodychecking Review & Giveaway with Jami Davenport

Bodychecking

Game On in Seattle #7

By: Jami Davenport
Released April 30, 2016

Cedona Enterprises

Blurb

As the wild child of the family, Bellani Maxwell isn’t interested in settling down. Between a fledgling party crashing business, teaching self-defense at a martial arts studio, and hitting the bar every night, she has her hands full. She doesn’t need the added responsibility or commitment of a relationship.

Hockey star Cedric Pederson has all the puck bunnies he could ever want, but a chance encounter eighteen months ago leaves him with eyes only for the gorgeous, free-spirited Bella. Too bad she isn’t interested in what Cedric has to offer beyond frequent hookups, and he’s grown tired of their on-again, off-again non-relationship. He wants to be all-in or all-out.

When a brutal attack leaves Bella in need of comfort, protection, and healing, the only person she wants is Cedric. But once she’s living in his condo, Bella is confronted with a decision she’s been avoiding—can she finally commit to Cedric, or will she let him go one last time?

Review:
Bodychecking might be my favorite book in this series by far. You don't have to read the previous books in this series to read this one but it is recommended.

Bellani aka Bella is known for being the wild child of the Maxwell sisters. Bella doesn't commit in relationships she is the love 'em and leave 'em type but her hook ups with hockey star Cedric are hot, but when he starts wanting more she starts to pull away.

Cedric has gotten to know Bella more then just on a hooking up level and he wants to move their relationship from the bedroom to something more  but convincing Bella is turning out to be harder then her expected.

Bella goes out one night and doesn't practice what she preaches by being a martial arts instructor and this bad decision changes her life. On the way home she is attacked and if it wasn't for the homeless man who helped her she doesn't know what would have happened to her. Instead of running to her sisters for help she goes to Cedric for support.

When Cedric opens the door to a broken and bruised Bella he can't turn her away. He will do whatever it takes to get the Bella he fell for back but it's going to take a whole lot of time and patience but for being with Bella it's worth it.

Davenport did an excellent job on dealing with the attack issue. I know everyone says "well if this happened to me I would...", but do you really know what you would do? Davenport did that with Bella and I liked the way it was written. Here is a kick ass heroine who is a martial arts instructor and while being attacked she just freezes. It goes to show that something just don't happened as planned or what you trained for.

I liked the bond between Cedric and Bella, while they steamed it up between the sheets they also got to know themselves better and as a couple after the attack. While Bella might have seemed broken at times you can see that Cedric was her rock from the beginning to the very end.

I really enjoyed this story and honestly really like this series. One thing I would have liked to see more of was the hockey but overall I was impressed with how well this story was written and the HEA ending.
