Review:
Admittedly I passed over this book a few times before I decided to read it. One the blurb sounded interesting but at the time just didn't jump out at me, but once I started this book I became kind of hooked.
I didn't read the novella that started this series so I wasn't sure what to expect but already I was liking the idea of the dive team.
Lou moved to the Rockies to start over away from her controlling family and her ex. While in training she finds a headless body (gross) but as the case of the missing mans identity turns on the cold side she asks for Callum's (love that name) help. As these two try to identify the man Lou learns she is being targeted and doesn't know why. Callum plans to keep her close but the closer they become feelings start to change and hopefully whoever is after Lou will be caught.
I found this book to be more of a suspense then a romantic suspense book. For starters there romance was slowly building from the beginning but the suspense overshadowed it which disappointed me just a bit. I got more caught up in who did it and the whys and honestly forgot about these two having a romantic relationship. The sex scenes were brief and would have liked a little more details added.
Did I mention I really did like that this book was about rescue divers? I thought it was unique but Lou also had a second job during the story as a barista. I would have liked to see maybe more rescues or more time with them training then the author focusing on scones and coffee. The one part of the book that made me say wow was towards the end and let's just say it involves the bad guy, Callum and Lou fighting for their lives.
At the end of this story Ruggle sets up for book 2 which I am looking forward to reading. And I also really want to find out more about the hunky firefighter who is also in a MC. I thought this story was good and I loved how the author told the story.
