Fan the Flames by Ruggle is the second book in the Search and Rescue series. This book could be read as a standalone but it picks up where book one left off. If you haven't read book one stop reading now. ;-)
At the end of book one Ian has become a person of interest for the murder victim Lou discovered while training. Ian knows he didn't do it but somehow a personal belonging of his was found at the crime scene. Is he being framed? And by who? Ian along with his friends are trying to discover just that during Fan the Flames.
In this story Ian has a love interest who is Rory. Although she is a little different and quirky I really liked her a lot. Rory owns a gun shop and isn't good in social situations since she was homeschooled her whole life and never had friends or a boyfriend. Honestly some of her parts were extremely cute on how she takes everything to heart.
While the investigation is going on about who murdered the dead guy Rory and Ian find themselves in the middle of MC drama.
Again like the first book in the series the romance is slow moving. They like each other but Rory doesn't know how to have a boyfriend and Ian is slow and has the patience of a saint. The suspense is what kept this book going for me since I desperately wanted to find out who the murderer was, but again like the first book we don't which really bummed me out.
While I'm enjoying this series on the suspense level I wishing there was much more to the romance portion. Also by now I thought the murder case would have ended and something new would have happened. While the murder issue isn't the top case in this book I felt that should have been wrapped up in book one.
Since I have enjoyed the suspense so far in this series I'm going to continue this series just for that reason. Hopefully the next book will contain a little more romance and the guy who was found in the lake will finally be put to rest.
