ARC Review: True North (True #1) by Liora Blake

What happens when a bad-boy celebrity rocker meets a small-town bestselling novelist? Find out in this first book in the sizzling new True series by Liora Blake!

While most novelists would consider jetting off to Hollywood for a TV interview rather exciting, small-town Montana writer Kate Mosely finds it all a bit exhausting. After losing her husband in a car accident where she was behind the wheel, Kate has finally found her bearings in the world again, rebuilding a simple but stable life. And even if that means a lot of lonely nights watching old movies and quiet days writing obituaries for her hometown newspaper, Kate’s not sure she’s ready for her life to change—again.

Until she shares the stage—and a whole heap of carnal gazes—with rock star Trevor “Trax” Jenkins. Despite his intimidating on-stage bravado, underneath it Kate discovers a man with a Rilke poem tattooed on his arm, an appreciation for cronuts, and a snarky wit that matches her own.

As she and Trevor explore their heated chemistry, the scarred parts of Kate’s heart begin to heal, making room for a love so passionate it makes her want long-forgotten things equal parts naughty, heart-swelling, and joyful. But when a searing exposé in a trashy gossip magazine sends Kate running, will it threaten their chances at forever?

Review:
True North is the first book in this series by Liora Blake and I loved it! Small town writer meets a celebrity rock star caught my attention from the beginning.  The story had its serious moments but it also had the fun teasing moments that will keep you entertained.

Living in Montana, Kate Mosely loses her husband in a tragic car crash accident while she was the one driving. After the healing process she began to write and became a bestselling writer. Kate’s agent is aware what a hit her book is and pushes her into the spotlight by doing several talk shows to speak about her book.

Trevor “Trax” Jenkins screams with charm. His band Trax is one of the performers on one of the talk shows that Kate is set to be on. From their first meeting you can tell Trevor is attracted to her and its super sweet. Trevor actively pursues Kate and she ends up learning that people are not always what they appear to be.
I really did like these two characters together and they were both well written. Trevor earned big points with me when he called his manager to get in touch with her just to spend time with Kate and get to know her. I did feel bad for Trevor at certain parts because he thought he was taking this new relationship more serious then Kate was when really she was just treading carefully which you can understand with what she has been though.

I really enjoyed the random text messages while they were apart and how Trevor surprises her in Montana. When he explains all that he had to go through to find her was hilarious. There are a lot of twists and turns and unexpected events so the story will keep you reading just so you can find out what is next to come. The one thing I didn’t really like was how Trevor’s mom was, but she ended up making up for it in the end.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series not only to get an update on these two characters but to see what is in store for Simon. The True series will always be on my read list.
